Avoid Summer (June to August):

 The summer months can be hot, humid, and crowded, with temperatures reaching over 30°C (86°F), and it is also the typhoon season, which can cause unpredictable weather.

  • Hong Kong uses the Hong Kong Dollar (HKD).
  • Macau uses the Macau Pataca (MOP), though Hong Kong Dollars are widely accepted.
  • It’s helpful to carry both local currencies or use credit cards at most places.
Language
  • In Hong Kong, Cantonese is the primary language, though English is widely spoken in tourist areas.
  • In Macau, Cantonese is the main language, and Portuguese is also an official language. English is commonly spoken, but not as widely as in Hong Kong.
